Dorothy "Dottie" Mary Phillips

Dottie Phillips, ageless, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2010 at Bickford Cottage. Services will be at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Saturday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.

Dottie was born in Manhatten, New York and came to Iowa as an infant. She graduated from Lincoln High School and worked for Columbia Broadcasting Company and Bankers Trust, retiring in 1986. Ken and Dottie met at Parent’s Without Partners in 1987. It was love at first site and they were engaged within 6 weeks. They married on September 25, 1988 and traveled and cruised around the world with Dottie dancing all the way. Their favorite destinations were Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. Dottie was warm, fun and personable.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Phillips; son, Robert (Kathy) Walton; step-daughter, Jacqueline (Sean) Roberts; sisters, Lillian Riccelli, Betty (Gus) Revita, Frances Doroty, Haroletta Blackledge and June Fine; grandchildren, John Bradley (Chayanid) Walton and Jennifer (Matt) Struck; step-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Austin and Lauren Roberts; daughter-in-law, Sue Walton; numerous nieces and nephews; and Fritzie #2.

Dottie was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Beorum-Hunt, step-father, Harold Hunt; her first husband, Robert Walton; son, Richard Walton; step-son Kevin Phillips; sister, Carobelle Torrence; and Fritzie #1.
