Darlene Mae Oneth Jones

Darlene Mae Oneth Jones died on Monday, August 30, 2010 in Tullahoma, TN. She was born in Des Moines, IA in 1942 to Earl and Mae Oneth and moved to Tennessee in 1976. She was a 25-year breast cancer survivor and a strong advocate of charitable causes in support of children and women throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her son, Garry Todd Jones; and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Jody Jones of Iowa City, IA and Julie Cottrell of Tullahoma, TN; her twin sister, Arlene Gaule of Des Moines, IA; two older sisters, Pat Racek (Alleman, IA) and Joyce Samo (West Des Moines, IA); two grandsons, Caleb and Jack Cottrell; and her former husband, Gene Jones of Chattanooga, TN.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Hixson United Methodist Church in Hixson, TN, 5301 Old Hixson Pike. A second service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 12 p.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue, in Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be held from one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. A short graveside service at Warren-Powers Cemetery in Runnels, IA will follow.

In lieu of flowers, her daughters ask that donations be sent to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
