Bernice Fontanini

Bernice Fontanini, 83, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Kavanagh on 56th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a charter member, with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be at the church from 4-8 pm Sunday with a vigil service at 7 pm, followed by a rosary service recited by the Altar and Rosary Society, of which she was a life long member.

Bernice was born December 5, 1926 in Des Moines. She worked at Sears for 17 years and retired in 1994. Following retirement Bernice worked as a Family Services Assistant at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. She was a loving mother and devoted her life to her family and church.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 62 years, Sargio Fontanini; daughters Debbie (Bob) Morlan, Denise (Jim) Trower; sons Greg (Suzie) Fontanini, Father Chris Fontanini, John Paul Fontanini; grandchildren Brian Morlan, Michael Morlan, Jennifer Tomlinson, Heather Trower, Jim Trower, Rick Trower, Gina Fontanini, Anna Fontanini and great grandchildren Taylor and Hannah Tomlinson.

In keeping with her charitable heart, Bernice’s family would like to continue to help with Catholic education at Christ the King School, in suggesting memorial contributions be made to the Bernice Fontanini Christ the King Scholarship Fund, or to Hospice Kavanagh House on 56th.
