Sandra Ramsey, 69, of West Des Moines reunited in heaven with her son, Vincent and her parents, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was born June 25, 1941 in Des Moines to Sarah and Robert Ford.
She loved bowling, going to the casino, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Anthony (Linda), Randall (Kathy), Jimmy (Katherine Buckley) and Jennifer (David) Snyder; daughter-in-law, Doreen Ramsey; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald (Barb) Granzow, Kenneth (Judy) Mueller, David Mueller, and Francis (Jim) Eastvold.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines with cremation to follow. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Sandra.

things I wanted to say at your funeral
Dear mommy
I wanted to tell you I have been listening all these years. I know I have fought you thru everything.
As I was young you wanting me in dresses , I showed you ripped up jeans and borrowed shirts from a brother was so much cooler! You taught me how to sit down and quietly do my homework, I showed you how to jam on music and talking on the phone got it done! You taught me how to clean house better then Martha Stewart, I showed you how to shove and hide things so it looked like it was done!
Mommy you taught me how to love and open up my heart to find the good stuff. You made me enjoy as I got older sitting and drinking coffee and talking to you. You showed me how to pick my
arguments . ( I think I picked too many sometimes!)
You told me all about how you grew up not knowing if your place would be padlocked shut or not. How your mom never really know how to be a mommy. How you grew older you learned on your own the importance of a mother's love. I never told you but that's what had got me thru some tough times. I realize man I really don't have it rough and I can make it through anything if my mom could.
Mom, I know I will always need you but I wanted you to feel it was okay it was one time you had to think about yourself was time to move on and feel no more pain. so mommy I got's this . Don't think when I go to pray I won't stop and talk to you too. after almost 40 years I know a lot what you say any how! Don't worry much about dad or my brothers I can keep them inline and gather them together make them remember that a family that eats and plays together is a family that stays together..

Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight...
Must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle their lovely light will surely shine to brighten up another place more perfect... more divine. And in the realm of Heaven where they shine so warm and bright. We send our condolences to all of you at this time. Sandy and I had a lot of fun when she lived up on Grand Avenue. I lived on High Street. Often we would
go to the Toddle House for a piece of Chocolate cream pie. We bleached our
hair and it turned "red." We skipped school only once and we were caught.
Actually, we were very good kids. Recently, I have been able to keep in
touch with Sandy through "Facebook." I was coming back to Des Moines for the
Tech High 50th reunion and was going to visit then. I am glad we were able
to talk and write notes ion the last year. We send our prayers and love.

I am sorry for your loss. Sandy was a great lady and I have many wonderful memories of her from the the times our families were together.
