Gloria Penn

Gloria Penn, 65, passed away at her home August 22, 2010.

Gloria was born November 13, 1944 in Des Moines. She was a lifelong Des Moines resident and worked for George’s Chili King for 47 years.

Gloria is survived by her children, Teresa Smith, Gary (Kim) Irvin, Tracy (Jim) Higginbotham, Robert (Jackie) Smith, Sherrie Butters and John Penn; mother, Dorothy Smith: sisters, Bobette Gebhardt, Lolly Edwards, Dorothy Mangani, Linda Hegland and Patti Smith; grandchildren, Shane Michael, Jason Lewis, Corey Irvin, Kelli Irvin-Wright, Chad Cox, Jason Cox, Kris Thompson, Amy Thompson, Donald Thompson, Angel Smith, Shawn Smith, Ty McElvogue, Seirria Smith and Brandon Smith; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Avon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
