Thomas E. Nall, Sr., passed away August 23, 2010 at Taylor House Hospice.

Thomas was born May 30, 1934 in Des Moines. He was a lifelong resident. Thomas was a great musician. He loved to play guitar and played in the Blue Grass Band, Great Titanic. Thomas also played in many Blue Grass festivals, was a volunteer musician at nursing homes and played for many children’s events including the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon. He was also a senior companion for seven years. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. First and foremost, Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bernice; children, Vickey (Garry), Charlie (Kelly) and Thomas, Jr. (DeAnne); seven grandchildren, Amanda, Brandy, Garry, Jr., Bryan, Scott, Emily and Ryan; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Jayson and Kayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Renda and Alva Nall and nine siblings, Bobby, Jo, Jack, Ray, Sally, Jim, Jerry, Larry and Shirley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
