Bernice Jones

Bernice Boot Jones, 89, passed peacefully on August 19, 2010 in Ames, IA. She was born in What Cheer, IA in 1921. Bernice married Marion E. Boot of Pella in 1940, and they moved to Urbandale. After Marion’s passing in 1969, Bernice married Thomas K. Jones in 1971. She resided in Urbandale until she moved to Ames in 2007. Bernice enjoyed spending time sewing and crocheting.

Bernice is survived by her brother, Harold (Edna) Jacobs; sister, Nora Breton; two sons, Richard (Karen) Boot and Gary (Jean) Boot; four grandchildren, Christine (Pat) Drotz of Des Moines, Michael (Brandi) Boot of Idaho, Jeffrey (Ashleigh) Boot of Utah and Kevin (Erika) Boot of Clive; and ten lovely great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry and Albert; and both husbands.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Hamilton’s funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Urbandale or to the Urbandale American Legion in honor of Bernice.
