Chuck Maine, 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Taylor House. Memorial visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Chuck retired from Des Moines Water Works after 35 years of service. He loved golfing and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Phyllis Maine; sister, Bev (Jim) Briggs of Stratford, IA; children, Deanna (Brian) Davey of Chandler, AZ, Ronald Armstrong of Des Moines, Tracy (Max) Steigleder of Des Moines, Todd (Kayl) Armstrong of New Virginia, IA and Cory Maine of Des Moines; grandchildren, Brandon Davey, Brent Davey, Jordan Steigleder, Jason Steigleder, Nick Donielson, Tyler Donielson, Mariah (Andrew) Brown, Dillon Armstrong, Amanda Armstrong, Katie Armstrong, Cory Maine Jr. and Cooper Maine; great-grandchildren, Matt, Gage, Peyton, Lilly and Spencer; uncle, Gene (Vicki) Stinson; aunts, Betty Stinson and Luella Maine; sisters-in-law, Alice (Dan) Lamb, Sondra (Gary) Sacco and Sue (David) McVey; brother-in-law, Ray (Evelyn) McAfee; many nieces and nephews and his special dog, Wilma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlyn and Wilma Maine; his brother, Kenny Maine and his parents-in-law, John and Dorothy Wilson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor House in loving memory of Chuck.

We are so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing and hope that in the coming days you can find comfort that he is now at peace and with Grandma, Grandpa, and my Dad. I am sure that he will be looking upon all of you with love for eternity. Chuck will be dearly missed by everyone and I know the memories you have with him will be cherished forever.
He was a great brother to my dad (Ken) who loved him dearly. I am thankful they had so many days together in recent years spending time in Arizona...I know both of them enjoyed it. Nathan and I are also glad that we were able to visit when you were in Arizona as well and will always remember how much Chuck (like Dad) loved football, especially the Broncos. I recall that whenever the Broncos played in Kansas City as we were growing up, both Chuck and Dad would leave about the same time (from Iowa and Colorado respectively) and drive to reunite for a couple of days and see their favorite team together. The bonds created in times like this were strong between the two of them and I believe they are now together again, ready for football season.
