Service Details
David Mendenhall, Sr., 63, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his home of a sudden heart attack. His funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral also at the funeral home.
David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is lovingly survived by his wife Sue; his children: David, Jr., Tim, and LeAnna (Mike) Craig; and his grandchildren: Tiffany and Taylor Annis, and Dylan Craig. He is preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Johnathon Mendenhall; and his brothers Johnathon, Jr., and Patrick.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of David.

Sue, David,Jr., Tim and LeAnna -
So sorry to hear this. Your family has always held a special place in my heart and to this day, whenever I hear old Waylon and Willie songs, it takes me right back to jamming in the basement, with David on guitar and Sue and I singing, which was always followed by David's great laugh! I can still see him now taking his hat off and rubbing his forehead laughing till he had tears. Those are great memories! My prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

We are so sorry for the loss of David, know that this was not just your loss, David was a great loss to all of the extended family as well. He was and will always remain the patriarch of the cousins, the one EVERYONE looked to for advice, comfort and of course smiles.David could make anyone laugh in even the worst of times, and he would be there in an instant if he was needed for anything.Ray will miss the Big Brother figure in David, I will miss his very funny sense of humor, and Tucker who really just got to know David at the big tag sale in March will miss the "cool" cousin that he got to know.
Godspeed on your journey David, we will see you someday along the trail.
