Jerry Lust

Jerry Lee Lust, 75, died Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Altoona Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South, with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jerry was born July 12, 1935 to Edwin and Viola Lust in Newton. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Atchison, Kansas VFW Post 1175. Jerry worked many years as a milkman in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. He lived in Florida for 25 years being a private caregiver to an elderly friend before moving back to Iowa three years ago.

Jerry is survived by his children, Brenda, Edwin, and Darrell Lust, all of Kansas; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene (Judy) Lust, Gary Lust, and Cheryl (Johnny) Johnston; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Brian Evert Harvey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
