Vera G. Drabek, 91, passed away August 2, 2010 at Bright Kavanagh House.
Vera was born March 13, 1919 in Britt, IA to George and Alice (Farmer) Krambeer. She married James Drabek on April 9, 1940 and they moved to Des Moines in 1944. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she also was a cook for St. Peter’s Catholic School. Vera was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Peter’s Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles.
Vera is survived by her sons, Jerry (Lessie) Drabek, Roland “Red” (Karen) Drabek and Leonard (Barbara) Drabek; daughters, Marjorie (LeRoy) Mayes and Delores “Dee Dee” (Vern) Tyler; sister, Pearl Bahr; brother, George Krambeer, Jr.; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, E. 18th & Des Moines Street, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bright Kavanagh House.

Our deepest sympathies to your family---I recall many great memories of our Aunt Vera and your lovely mother,I'm sorry but we can not attend the funeral. So glad she got to make the trip to the re-union and thanks to the kids for bringing her, it was a great time shared by all.

I will always remember Aunt Vera for her sweet little smile & soft voice, I enjoyed seeing & talking to her at the renunion last month. It is so hard to lose our loved ones--"You can shed tears that she is gone OR you can smile because she lived." Let all your good memories of your Mom &
Grandma get you thru this difficult time. Your entire family is in my thoughts & prayers, my deepest sympathy goes out to all of you.

Our prayers and sympathies go out to you all at this time. How wonderful it was to have so recently seen Aunt Vera at the family reunion. Her usual smiling and perky self. She was a wonderful lady and at peace now.
