Lewis D. Gibson, 66, passed away July 28, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Per his wishes, his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Lewis was born May 8, 1944 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Leland and Annie (Cardin) Gibson. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle and was a boxer in high school. Lewis enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He married Betty McFarland in November of 1987 and was a truck driver for many of years.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Betty; sister, Patricia (R.J.) Wooten; step-daughter, Carol Elwood; step-granddaughters, Michelle and Rachel Elwood; step-great-grandchildren, Darchelle, Marnell, Marcos and Alicia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Ronnie.

To the family of Lewis Gibson... We never met Lewis's family outside of Betty, but we were good friends and neighbors of his and Betty's. Lewis was a good man who was always wiling to help out anyone and everyone was a friend! I will miss his monthly visits when he would come knock on the door wanting his haircut. You will be missed Lewis! You are in a much better place and carefree. Enjoy your reunion with your son Ronnie and your parents. RIP Lewis...

Pat, RJ & family:
I was so sorry to hear about Lewis. We don't understand why things happn the way they do, but we have to remember that God is in control and He decided it was Lewis' time. At least he won't have all the suffering he has had to go through for so many years, My prayer is for God to give you the peace and comfort you all need to go through this time of suffering. I am so thankful you were able to talk with him on Monday night. That has to be a great comfort for you. You and the famiy will definitely be in our prayers. Will call you later.

I was so sorry to hear about Lewis, but it sounds like he was telling you good
bye Monday. We dont understand a lot of things, but I like you, it must have been God's time. At least he wont have a lot of suffering going on now, and so thankful you have that peace that only God can give. Phil. 4:7 And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
