Robert Anthony Hasley Vestal, 24, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Misawa, Japan in a tragic accident. He was born on July 14, 1986 to Anthony and Georgina in Des Moines.
Bobby was currently serving in the United States Air Force in Misawa, Japan. He had served in the United States Air Force since November 2009. Bobby proudly served his country. He was an avid musician and loved being with his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Bobby is survived by his father, Anthony Vestal; his grandmother Barbara Vestal; his sisters, Landrea and Megan; his brothers, Matthew, Aaron and Davion; He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgina.
Funeral Services will be held 12:30 pm Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive, Des Moines. Burial with military honors to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at the church.

Thank you for sharing you son with us in AMMO and for forging him into the kind of man that clearly represented our core values of "Integrity", "Service Before Self" and "Excellence in All We Do", even before he enlisted in the Air Force. Robert's loss is a tragedy...as a career field, please know that we all share in your sadness.

Please accept my sympathy for your loss. I taught Robert in middle school and I clearly remember his sweet and ready smile that lightened any situation and brightened every room it graced. I am proud of the young man he became and am so sorry this tragic accident took him life. Good Bless You.

To the family and freinds of Bobby Vestal,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Bobby. He was freinds with my son Joe Miller and his wife Justine. Two summers ago I had the privilege to meet this fine young man at Joe's house while Bobby was practicing in his band. Even though I had only talked to Bobby a few times I clearly recall what a very polite and kind hearted young man he was. He was someone who you just knew you liked:)
My son Joe and his wife Justine are having a very hard time trying to accept the loss of their dear freind Bobby. May you know our thoughts and prayers are with you all and that Bobby will never be forgotten. God's special blessing upon him for so very proudly serving our country.

Long time, My deepest sympathy goes out to you and family. I have two boy's of my own, Cant imagine. brings tears to my eyes. Ive been searching for Brian but no luck? my wife saw this and recognized the name from me talking about the family through the years! Call me!!! 515-771-6224 Anytime. I was so sad when I heard the news about Robert! I have so many fond memories of him when he was little. What a great kid! I am so sorry for your loss. Please know my heart goes out to you all at this time. I will keep your family, and Robert in my thoughts and prayers.

You are all in my heart and prayers. Robert was a good boy who grew up to be an outstanding young man. I am proud he was a part of my life. I hold fond memories of the holidays I got to spend with Robert and his family. He will be missed by all. Love you Lila

My son is Airman 1st Class Thomas Coleman and is stationed in Misawa. He arrived there the same time that Bobby did. Tom was very close friends with Bobby. He called me from Japan on Sunday July 25 crying and terribly upset about the loss of his close friend. As I was trying to offer him comfort, I could not help but stray my thoughts and prayers to your family.
I am terribly sorry for your loss. We as parents see our sons off to foreign lands in service of our country and in enrichment of their own lives, and we can not help but to pray that they return to us safely. I am sorry that Bobby's return to you was not as prayed for. God must have a dear need for Bobby.
I want to thank you for your son's friendship to my son Tom. Bobby helped Tom create a "family" of brothers in Misawa and for that I am grateful. He is already dearly missed.
