Dora "Babe" Olson

Dora “Babe” Olson, 98, passed away July 25, 2010 at the Panora Nursing & Rehab Center in Parnora.

Babe was born November 9, 1911 in Bussey, IA to Herman and Josephine LeClair. She married Lawrence Olson April 18, 1928. Babe was a cook with the Des Moines Public Schools for many years. She was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church and enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and cooking.

Babe is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. (Bill) Highland; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Robert, grandson Brian, and great-grandchild Jessica Lynne.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Hospice Foundation or Panora Nursing and Rehab Center Memorial Walk.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Panora Nursing and Rehab Center and also the staff at Iowa Hospice of Central Iowa.
