Warren Huizenga

Warren Jay Huizenga, 59, fought a courageous battle against cancer and went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2010 with his family at his side. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Crossroads Church, 2601 Border Street, Norwalk, IA 50211. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Tuesday evening at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. Burial will follow at 2 PM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Warren was born September 5, 1950 in Clinton, IA To Wilbert & Genevieve (Brondyke) Huizenga and grew up on their family farm in Whiteside County, IL. Following graduation from Morrison High School in 1968 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1976. Warren & Sue moved to Des Moines, IL where they would spend the next 40 years raising their family.

He was employed for 35 years at the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office in Des Moines, Iowa, retiring in January of 2006.

Warren’s courage, strength, and strong Christian faith is an inspiration to many. Warren was an active member of his church, a devoted husband, father and grandfather.


He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Sue (Pak) Huizenga; Daughter, Suzanne (John) Allen, West Des Moines; Grandchildren , Jessica & Sammy Allen; Son, Jason (Beth) Huizenga, Urbandale; Grandchildren, Brooke & Jenna Huizenga
Brother, Lester (Sandy) Huizenga, Morrison, IL

Warren is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert & Genevieve (Brondyke) Huizenga.
