Tony Baker, 67, passed away Sunday morning July 25, 2010 at Mercy Hospital from complications of lung cancer. He was born October 13, 1942 in Keota, IA to Earl and Francis Baker.
Tony served in the United States Navy. He was a truck driver for American Freight and retired from Miller the Driller. Tony frequently visited the Norwood Inn.
He is survived by his daughters, Jolee and Lacey; son, Chris; and three grandchildren; brother, Larry of Cedar Rapids. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Francis Baker; brothers, Jim, Arnold, Keith; and sister, Susie.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Hi to the Baker family Hearing of Tony's death has brought back some long forgotten memories Tony when he was quite young helped me here in Keota on our farm He was so ornery and a lot of fun to have around I have lost track of where he was for several years I also remember his parents and family His mother Francis was one of the best cooks around and also she and Earl were such nice folks I am sorry to hear of his passing having lung cancer is not easy to deal with with sympathy Dennis and Toots Conrad

Im so greatful that Tony was a great friend I will miss you up at the laundry mat on Sundays for you coffee and you talking to everyone there.We all are gonna miss you so much your freind Nancy

I'm glad I got to see you Friday morning for coffee. You were one of the strongest people I know. We enjoyed many many years of your friendship and we will cherish that forever. We hope you find peace and happiness on your new journey. We will miss you very much but we know you have friends and family up there with you now so you will be OK. Save a place for us and don't try to take the boss's job right away. God speed brother, We love you!

Tony, you were one of my favorite customers when I worked at Norwood Inn. You teased me so much about being a Vikings fan and you would always remind me that at least your Chicago Bears had won a Super Bowl. You had such a great sense of humor and you always made me laugh. I also remember your great hugs. I'm so glad you came with George and Terri out to Runnells to see Bill and I. I'm so thankful that I got to see you and hug you. I never dreamed that 7 days later, you would not be with us any more. I will always remember you and miss you. Rest in peace, my friend!

All of us at Miller The Driller are saddened to learn of Tony's untimely passing. He was a great guy and we all loved him; even on his grumpy days!!!
Tony was gruff with a heart as big as Iowa. He had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor.
The Miller The Driller family of employees and friends extend our sympathy to Tony's remaining family. He will be missed.

Tony was an amazing man with a huge heart, he always had a smile and a hug to offer anyone for the taking. He was beautiful and very dear to my heart as well as my daughters. He was a great friend and I will miss him dearly. He was there for me when I lost my father and I am truly greatful. I know God will have a special place for him, he was loved by alot of people.
