Ray L. Scheel

Raymond Lee Scheel, 58, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames after an 8 month battle with gastric cancer. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Monday, July 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Private graveside services will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.

Ray was born March 30, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Vesta and Leonard Scheel. Ray has worked for Principal, the Marriott Corporation and most recently as a mechanical electrician at the physical plant at DMACC. Ray loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing and riding his bike.
His greatest joy was to sit on his deck drinking beer.

Ray is survived by his long time companion, Julie Scheel; his son, Randy Lee Scheel; his daughter, Donna Jo (Chris) Augustine; his brother, Jerry (Patti) Scheel; his aunt, Berneice Scheel and aunt Ruth (Jim) McIntyre.
