Verner Lyons

Verner “Larry” Lyons, 64, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. A visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 25 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Larry served aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise during Viet Nam. He enjoyed woodworking.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Hutchins; mother, Hazel Newman; sisters, Karen Smith, Loretta Taylor; brother, Lee Lyons; step brother, Lawrence Newman; grandchildren, Alysia, Joshua and great granddaughter, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Lyons and step sister, Mary Williams.
