Service Details
Catherine “Cathy” Elizabeth Custer-Rubenking, 50, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 23rd at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines, with burial following at Avon Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Catherine lived in the Des Moines area her entire life. She was employed by Prairie Meadows for the last 15 years where she was a member/steward of AFSCME union and had worked for Windsor Window and the Des Moines MTA now DART.
Catherine is survived by her son Bob (Sharon) Rubenking Jr.; her soulmate Rick Wiler; her siblings Carl Custer and Jack Custer; and her 9 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

I was saddened to hear about Kathy's death. I worked at MTA with Kathy years ago and remember her fondly. My sincere regrets go out to her family.
