John Long

John “Jack” D. Long, 85, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th Street SW. in Altoona. A private family burial will be held the morning of March 13th.
John worked for two pharmaceutical companies before going to work for the Broadlawns Hospital Pharmacy where he retired in 1985. After retirement, he volunteered at the Veteran’s Hospital Pharmacy for 11 years. John was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid reader.
John is survived by his loving wife, Gladys “Jinx” Long; daughter, Mary Dalbey; son, John (Susie) Long; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Library at his church.
