Joe Simon

Joseph Patrick Simon Jr., 65, was born March 2, 1945 in Des Moines, the son of Joseph P. Sr. and Darleen Simon. He passed away suddenly at home Saturday, July 17, 2010 due to heart issues. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Joe proudly served his country in The United States Marine Corps for over 14 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of AA for 15 years as well as a YPC Member. Joe attended East High School and was a member of Visitation Catholic Church.

Joe is survived by his wife, Treva; daughter, Nicole (Brad) Stevens; sons, Joe P. Simon and Jeff (Kari) Simon; grandchildren, Marie, James, McKenzie, Kody, Hannah, Jacob, Sam and Katie; and siblings, Ida (Robert) Barnes, Sherry (Herb) Waddell, Mary Jo (Murray) Wright, DuÁne Fisher and Ramona (Ed) Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis Simon, Ernest Simon and Gary Staples; sister, Janiece Pratt and first wife, Mary.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the funeral home.
