Jesse E. Murphy, 49, passed away from cancer July 16, 2010 at Taylor House Hospice.
Jesse was born June 25, 1961 in Des Moines to Darrell and Anna Murphy. He was an auto detailer by trade, but had most recently worked for Habitat for Humanity (Restore). Jesse attended Heartland Assembly of God Church in Ankeny. He loved to fish and enjoyed the special time teaching the sport to his niece and nephew. Jesse attended East High School and for the last 11 years, he was an active member of Passageway. He liked going to thrift shops and buying things at a bargain price, only to resell them at his own garage sales.
Jesse is survived by his parents; sister, Juli (Kirby) Putzier; and a niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, step-sister, Connie Murphy, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial, at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

We Share With Empathy for Jesse's family: Joyce and I truly enjoyed many fishing times with Jesse, there were so very many upon many times that we had together, so much so that we know with gratefulness that we held One very special Friend. We also worked together and knew of his dedication and hard work first hand. He also had great personality, wonderful sense of humor, and on and on. We are also somewhat overwhelmed, And by his unselfishness, Kindness, and too many things that made Jesse,Jesse. He most definately will be missed by many and our hearts go to out to his family and friend's...

Jesse will be truly missed. He was such a loving, caring, honest, and hysterical person. He often had me laughing with his jokes and I will miss his smile! My deepest condolences go out to Jesse's loving family and friends. I feel honored to have known him.

Jesse was a valued member of Passageway and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved going to social activities and always had a kind word for others. Jesse always kept our vans looking great, thanks to his great detailing skills. He loved to kid and tell a joke and could get others to laugh very easily.
I know that Jesse will be missed by all of us at Passageway. There will be a gap in our family of friends and colleagues where Jesse stood. We wish Jesse's family peace in the positive memories that we will all will cherish. We are thinking of you at this difficult time.
