Gunvor Fullmer

Gunvor Ohlander Fullmer, 85, passed away July 15, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Gunvor was born July 16, 1924 and raised in Vikmanshyttan, Sweden. She immigrated to the United States with her husband Gunnar and two young children in 1954. Gunvor retired from Farm Bureau in 1987 after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Norden Singers, American-Scandinavian Foundation and a longtime, active member of Grand View Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family and was very involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gunvor is survived by her husband, Paul; children, Ben (Dixie) Ohlander, Kurt (Eileen) Ohlander and Deborah (Steven) Giddings; step-daughters, Melanie (Jeff) Shellberg and Denise (Jim) Taylor; sister, Marianne Andersson; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gunnar Ohlander.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Grand View Lutheran Church, 2930 E. 13th Street. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
