Sam Gabriel

Sam Gabriel, 81, died peacefully Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Sam was born April 26, 1929 to Ralph and Josephine Gabriel in Crucoli, Italy. He served in the Unites States Marine Corps from 1947 – 1950. He was a lifetime member of Bricklayers Local #3. He was very active, and especially liked his favorite seat at the craps table at Prairie Meadows.

Sam is survived by his children: Ralph (Stella) Gabriel, Tanna (Steve) Allen, Kim (Terri) Gabriel, and Rick Acri; his grandchildren: John, Jeremy, Ryan, Sara, Jordan, Jessica, Rick, Yvonda, Gabe, and Tyler; numerous great-grandchildren; his sister, Vickie Crawford; his brother, Guy Gabriel, his nephews, Ricky, Dwight, and David; and his companion Jeanette Agan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Johnnie; and his brother-in-law, Vern Crawford.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Sam.
