Darris Beam

Darris Beam, 60, died away Wednesday, March 7, 2007 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Burial will follow Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes. The family will greet friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Butch was born March 30, 1946 to Bus and Bess Beam. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. After 30 years he retired from John Deere Works and most recently was employed by Manatts. He was a n avid Chicago Bears and Nascar fan. He also loved riding his Harley with his ABATE of Iowa District 4 family of which he was a member for the past 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Daugherty, son, Travis (Cheryl), mother, Bess Beam and brother, Kevin (Jean) Rhodes, two grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Bracken. He was also Papa to Miranda, Carter and Parker Allen. He was preceded in death by his father, Bus and grandson, Darris Richard Bracken. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to the Darris Beam Fund at Bankers Trust in Grimes.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Philip Colletier, Dr. Robert Shreck and the Mercy Medical Center staff for the kindness and compassion that was shown.
