Jean Ferguson

Jean D. Ferguson, 92, passed away July 7, 2010 at the Adair County Hospital in Greenfield.

Jean was born October 21, 1917 in Runnells, IA to David and Olive Taylor. Jean had lived in Runnells, Des Moines and Ankeny for 51 years and briefly in Pleasant Hill and Fontanelle. She was a member of Ankeny United Church of Christ, Ankeny Chapter Order of Eastern Star, the Unity Club in Ankeny, and was a past member of the Ladies Iowa Banker’s Association. Jean enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting for her family.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Judy (Don) Dunbar and Carol (Keith) Reed; grandchildren, David (Kibbie) Dunbar, Deborah (David) Snitkey, Leigh (Mark) Lewis, John (Shelly) Reed and Missy Frederick; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Taylor, and Erin Lewis, Evan and Paige Snitkey, Ashley Tracy, and Chris Reed; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Warren Ferguson, and her cousin, Kathleen McGowan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle and the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines.

The family expresses their thanks for the care and love that was shown to Jean.
