Condolences to the Green family. As a young boy I met Frances during family visits from Chicago to Iowa. My mother, Gertrude Winslow O'Rourke, and her sister, Mable Muckler, were constant letter writers to their relatives in Iowa. Some of these letters, written by their mother Elizabeth Winslow, wound up in my position following Mable's death. In these letters, written in the midst of WWII, there are references to her daughter Velma, who was sick at the time. My plan is to do a readable transcription of these letters and make them available to any interested family members. I live in Massachusetts and

Dear Delores, Leah, Reah and Jackie,
Please know our prayers are with each of you and your families during this sad time in your lives. God's timing doesn't always agree with ours but knowing and accepting His plan makes a time like this easier to understand and accept.
I so much remember our fun lunch together.....just we girls (and Marcia Hickman) and Aunt Frances.......a few years ago when I was in D.M. visiting. It was so great and I have such fond memories of it. I haven't been to D.M. for several years now but am eager to plan a few days hopefully this fall. If it comes to be, how about another time together? I would very much enjoy it.
I live 90 miles from where Daddy, as well as my son and daughter-in-law are. My son and his wife went to see Daddy and tell him of your Mom's passing. He asked me to be sure and extend his saddness at the loss of his sister and your Mother. He is nearly 91 and in a care facility but doing better than he was a year ago. It is difficult to watch our parents deteriorate during the aging process but surely a time we all will endure.
We send our love,
Susy
