Troy Newman Rodriguez
June 28, 2010
Our beloved friend went to take his place with Jesus on Monday, June 28th, 2010. Troy was born on September 11, 1963 in Pecos, Texas. He is survived by three brothers, Ben of Queen Creek, AZ, Ramon of Phoenix, AZ and Rick of Midland, TX and his sister, Rena of Tempe, AZ. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Rodriguez; his mother, Helen Rodriguez and his brother, Stanley.
Although Troy had no relatives in the area his friends were his family, and they loved him as deeply as any family could. Anyone who knew Troy was captivated by his bright and loving personality, his infectious drive and energy, and his generous heart of gold. The world will not be the same without him.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 3120 East 24th Street in Des Moines at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6th. Memorial contributions may be made to Word of God Ministries in loving memory of Troy.

I met Troy in 1993, and although we had not had any contact in fifteen years, he was a special friend of mine. I am shocked and saddened to discover of his passing. While he lived in Cincinnati, he framed several pictures for me, including one of he and I on a whitewater rafting trip in West Virginia.
If anyone reading this can provide any information regarding Troy's later life in Des Moines and the circumstances surrounding his passing, I would appreciate it.

Rest in peace and with the angels. We will always remember the good times that you and Mark had together over a number of years. We will also remember all the acts of kindness you showed to us on our trips to visit. May your family and loved ones find the solace and grace in the knowledge that you are now and forever shall be in a better place.
