Pearl Elizabeth Bobo

Pearl Elizabeth Bobo, 95, died peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Bright Kavanagh House. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the home of Melvin and Nancy Bobo with burial in Brooklyn, NY.

Pearl was born on October 31, 1914 and raised on the family’s farm outside Blackstone, VA. As a teenager she moved to Brooklyn, NY seeking employment. There she met Calvin Bobo whom she married on May 27, 1939.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Calvin; seven brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son, Melvin (Nancy) of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Jerome (Ann) Bobo and Michelle Bobo of Des Moines, Matt (Krista) Bobo of Raleigh, NC and Megan Bobo of Los Angeles, CA; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, Broadlawns Mental Health Dept. or Orchard Place.
