Service Details
Ronald L. Harmon, 73, died of COPD Saturday, June 12, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Berwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ronald was born March 1, 1937 to Frank and Emma (Scott) Harmon in Des Moines. He attended Hyatt Middle School and East High School. Ronald was a Master Electrician and had worked for Baker Electric and Des Moines Public School System. He was a member of IBEW Local 347. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet Harmon; children, Teri (Dennis) Struble, Doog (Sharon) Harmon, Matt (Kim) Harmon and Michelle “Tink” Gilligan; sister, Betty Grossnickle; brother, Larry (Phyllis) Harmon; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert and Frank Harmon.

Jan, I'm so sorry to hear of Ron's passing, you have my deepest sympathy, I will forever hold you and your family in my heart. I hold so many memories, alot of them Ron was being ornery! I'm sure you will miss him greatly.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just wanted to tell the family of Ron that my thought, prayers & heart are with you in your time of sorrow. Ron was a wonderful man & anyone that had the priveledge of knowing him has a richer life because of it. I loved Ron's sense of humor and his enormous heart.He was definately one of a kind. I learned about family love more than anything from Ron and I learned this by watching how much he whole heartedly loved his family. I am sorry for your loss.
