Shawn M. Gilson, 43, passed away June 12, 2010 at Bright Kavanagh House surrounded by her family.
Shawn was born June 17, 1966 in Cedar Falls, IA. She graduated from SE Polk High School in 1984 and then went on to earn her associate’s degree from DMACC. She worked at Adventureland as a teenager and continued for 19 additional years. Shawn was currently working in the data entry dept. for Wells Fargo. She loved crocheting, cross-stitching, hand crafts and participated in many craft shows at Adventureland. Shawn had a great personality and will forever be remembered for her smile.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard; children, Cathryn Florence and Ian Robert; mother, Sue Larson; father, Skip (Clare) Larson; sister, Alaire (Tim) Nielsen; brother, Lon (Shelby) Larson and their son, Tate; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Diane Gilson; brothers-in-law, Robert Jr. (Maria) and Russell Gilson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lester Cleveland, Maxine Cleveland Williamson, Marion Williamson, Earl and Verna Larson and Clyde and Florence Gilson.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, June 15 at the Mitchellville Community Center, 114 Center Avenue N. in Mitchellville. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or the Mitchellville Public Library in loving memory of Shawn.

Rich, I was deeply saddened to hear of Shawns passing. Know that the love of those close to you will help you through the days ahead and that you will find peace through your loving memories of Shawn.
