Esther Gersib

Esther M. Gersib, 96, of Des Moines, died on May 26, 2010 at Wesley Acres. She was born in Russell, Kansas on January 23, 1914. She was a Cashier at Drake University and then a Bookkeeper for Grandview University before joining her husband as Bookkeeper for The Stamp Corner retiring in 1992. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Viewing and Visitation will be on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Lyon Street from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Services will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:30 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time with lunch to follow. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines following the luncheon.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband George P. Gersib and is survived by her daughter, Janet (Paul) Kramme; her son, John Gersib; her two sisters, Rose Schafer and Vera Harper; her two brothers, Hubert (Elsie) Krug and Vernon Krug; her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Wesley Acres “Good Samaritan” Fund.

Esther’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the nursing staff at Wesley Acre’s Health Center for the years of compassionate and loving care, as well as to the Hospice staff and volunteers who spent countless hours with her during her final days. Their attention and love was inspirational and will be forever remembered by the family.
