Robert Jay Pepper, 91, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2010. He was a true Eastsider until April 2010, when he became a resident of Mitchell Village in Mitchellville, Iowa. Bob has been fighting a battle with dementia and Parkinson disease for several years.

Funeral services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation held 12-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Bob was born August 28, 1918 in Des Moines to Pearl and Nellie (Larson) Pepper. He owned and operated A-1 Construction until his retirement in 1983.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Judy (Frank) Rains of Runnells and Linda (Ron) Pepper-Sorlie of Mesa, Arizona; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Blackford and Virginia Blackford. Virginia assisted his daughter Judy with his care for the past few years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn “Dee” Blackford, his parents, his siblings Florence, Louise and Edward along with one grandchild.

Bob enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and playing pool with his friends. Bob will be missed by many and not forgotten.
