Bryce Draisey, 13, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born on June 15, 1996 to Derek and Michelle Draisey in Fort Stewart, Georgia.
He is survived by his parents, Derek and Michelle; sister, Brooklyn; and many extended family who loved him very much.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010 at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue S, Altoona, burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. prayer vigil.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Bryce.

Dear Braisy's,
My name is Katie Turner and I met your son in the Library looking up information for a project I was doing. We had a conversation and he told me what he wanted to do when he grew up. :) i was very amazed. He influenced me by what he said and how he could get through something tough like he was right now. He was very strong, and brave. He loved video games, and that just interested me and that i was proud of. I always thought how awesome he would be able to get through something like that. He inspired me to keep moving forward even if theres something in the way making you not be able to do what you want. When I had to leave I didn't want to because he was so fun to talk to and he gave me the time to let me share what I thought about him. He was strong and pulled through. He did't let anything get in his way from what he wanted to do when he grew up. He's in a better place<3

Hey, I'm really sorry about bryce's loss. I really didn't know him that much. But I understand,how hard it is to lose someone very close to you. I hope things with you guys. I bet you guy's are strong and can make it trough this. Bryce, seamed like a really nice kid, i've heard he was a really great student. ;). Best wishes from all of us kids at th Jr. High. Bryce was a great kid to get to know over the years at willowbrook and at the Jr. High and he will live with us for many years to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Bryce was an inspiration to me, and to our entire student body and staff. Today we mourn his loss, but for those who Bryce touched personally during his short time here on earth, we will continue to celebrate his life and remember his courage. Draisey Family -
My deepest sympathies for your loss. I got to know Bryce briefly by visiting Grandpa Bill and Grandma Max at the university hospital as they stayed with Bryce during the many weeks while he patiently waited for his transplant. He was such a courageous young man. I'm blessed that I got to meet him.
