Clifford Carlson

Clifford Kenneth Carlson, 87, passed away May 2, 2010 at Valley View Village. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Pleasant Hill Free Church, 4555 Parkridge Avenue in Pleasant Hill, followed by burial at Stuart Cemetery in Adelphi, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Clifford was born July 22, 1922 to Carl Axel and Elsa (Wall) Carlson in Pleasant Hill, IA where he lived for 78 years before moving with his wife, Virginia in 2000 to Valley View Village in Des Moines. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Church. Clifford graduated from East High School in 1940 and was employed at Electrical Engineering and Equipment Company for 45 ½ years and retired in 1987.

He enjoyed doing all his own car repairs in the early years, traveling, especially to Clear Lake, which has special meaning to he and his wife, and photography, taking many pictures of family and friends, old tractors, trains, and his church. Clifford also enjoyed Valley View Village and all the activities.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Virginia (Howard) Carlson; four grandsons, Jason (Christine) and Adam Brose, Michael Jr. and David Bunn; son-in-law, Michael Bunn, Sr.; great-granddaughter, Gail Brose; great-grandson, Jay Brose; two nephews, Roger (Linda) Carlson and Bruce (Susan) Carlson and their families; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynda Bunn; brother, Carl Gustav Carlson; and his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Free Church or Valley View Village.
