John Parks

John W. Parks “Bill”, 76, passed away May 3, 2010 after an extended stay at Bright Kavanagh Hospice.

Bill was born October 22, 1933 in Des Moines to John and Viola Parks. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a diesel mechanic for over 20 years with Rock Island Motor Transit. Bill will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Bill (Susan) Parks and John (Susan) Parks; daughters, Michele (Mike) Parks-Weis and Teri (Mike) Knode; step-son, Jeff Sherwood; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie; second wife, Connie; and granddaughter, Samantha.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery on Merle Hay Road. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
