Service Details

Nancy Jeanne Thomsen passed away Monday at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Nancy was born March 30, 1932 to Elizabeth and Paul McClelland. She graduated from Lincoln High School. During her life, Nancy worked at GMAC for a short time, as an office manager at an insurance company and on the office staff of a furniture dealer. She married Richard Thomsen on June 10, 1961. Nancy was very active in the American Business Women Association. She held all the positions in this organization, including president. She was a member of the Entheos chapter of the ABWA.
Nancy loved being with her family. She was well known for her culinary skills. She was an expert at making Christmas candies and cookies. She learned these skills from her aunt. She loved traveling with her husband in the western part of the United States.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard; her sons, Lee Carson of Council Bluffs and Craig (Linda) Carson of Ankeny; her granddaughter, Rochelle (Merrill) Hoopes of Indianola, her grandson, Christopher (Melissa) Carson of Osceola; her step-grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Roth of Ankeny and great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to either the American Lung Association or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Nancy’s family would like to send special thanks to the staff at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, 4th floor Powell and the ICU for their wonderful care of Nancy.
