Albert Hick

Albert Hick, 93, was born May 7, 1916 in Rising Sun, Iowa, the son of Roy and Mabel (Curry) Hick. He passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW with burial to follow at Rising Sun Cemetery.

Albert was a farmer most of his life, dedicated to the outdoors and all that it had to offer. He was a “livestock man” and had enjoyed gardening and nature. Albert was a “go-getter,” very active right up until his last day. Above all else, Albert loved his family and was so proud of each and every one of them, kids and grandkids alike.

Albert’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma Hick; his children, Doris (Fred) Dhabalt, Esther (Carroll) Purdy, Earl (Pam) Hick, Mary (Pierre) Robichaux, Russell Hick, Ginny Hick, Ella Mickle, Marvin (Teresa) Hick and Chris (Lila) Hick; 30 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 14 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman and Dale Hick; sister, Fern Dickey and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son; two brothers; four sisters; son-in-law, Richard Wright; grandchildren, Sandi Robichaux, James Purdy and Jody Purdy and great-grandson, Billy Van Cannon

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Albert.
