G. David Soderquist

David Soderquist, 72, of Des Moines died April 21 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center following complications of a stroke.

David attended Cattell Elementary, Harding Jr. High and East High School. He graduated from Drake University in 1958, majoring in Actuarial Science. Upon graduation he served as an officer in the United States Air Force.

David was a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Actuaries in Public Practice, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He retired to Des Moines after a long career as both a Life and Health Actuary.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Bertha Soderquist.
David is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Erin Soderquist; and grandsons, Rob McMullen of Columbus, OH and Corey Soderquist of Des Moines. He is also survived by his brother, Charlie (Donna) Soderquist of Pleasant Hill; brother-in-law, John (Karolyn) McKenna of San Carlos, CA; sister-in-law, Cathy (Jim) Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, David’s body has been donated to the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN to further medical research and education. No services are planned.
