Nancy J. Ryan, 62, passed away unexpectedly at her home April 16, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Nancy was born October 28, 1947 in Jefferson, IA to Melvin and Shirley Hall. Nancy was raised in Guthrie Center and moved to Des Moines in 1964. She recently retired from EMC Insurance after 42 years of service. Nancy was “craft crazy” and loved to spoil her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis; children, Dennis (Karen) Ryan and Janell (Alan Barton) Bailey; mother, Shirley Bentz; grandchildren, Candace, Mason, Adam, Trevor, Natalie, Ciarra, Joshua, Sebastian and Gunner; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by father, Melvin and her brother, Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice in loving memory of Nancy.

It saddened me deeply to hear of the loss of my dear friend, Nancy. She was my friend, my confidante, my 'play sister' and I loved her dearly. She left me with precious memories which I shall cherish forever. And though she is no longer here in body, she will forever be with us in spirit. I would like to express my sympathy to Nancys family. I worked with Nancy years ago when I worked for EMC and have many great memories of her. Im sorry I was unable to attend the services.

Shirley, I am so sorry and shocked to learn of Nancy's passing. I have so many warm memories of Nancy and your family. She will remain alive in my mind and heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Jean
