Robert Sheets

Robert Harold Sheets, 79, passed away on Friday, April 9. 2010 peacefully with his family by his side after an extended year long illness. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday, April 14, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Robert was born January 16, 1931 in Des Moines to Grover and Leta Sheets. Graduated from North High School in 1950 and joined Local 45 Sheet Metal Workers in the fall of that same year and remained for the next 60 years. Robert retired from Taylor Industries in the spring of 1996 after 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed most, traveling about the country in their motor home and camping at the local lakes. Robert served on the Tradesmen Community Credit Union Executive Board for more then 10 years. He was a skilled handyman and always enjoyed home projects whether it was his own home or the home of any of his family members or friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Judy, his children, Cindy Sheets (Barry Peroni), Steven (Dona) Sheets, Robert (Jamie) Sheets, Matthew (Kimberly) Sheets, his sister, Crystal Korte; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Sheet Metal Union Local 45 training fund.
