Andrew Reed, 78, of Des Moines passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at his residence.
Andrew was born December 7, 1931 in West Des Moines, Iowa the son of Andrew and Dora (Weaver) Reed. On September 17, 1954 he married Peggy Meholovich in Des Moines.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Peggy; Sons, Darryl Reed and Thomas (Kim) Reed; daughter, Cheryl (Bob Eddinger) Reed; sister, Pearl Stafford; five grandchildren, Lara Earls, Andrew T. Reed, Robin Renea Reed, Zach and Brittney Eddinger; and four great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Shelby Earls, and Morgan and Breanna Pester. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Bishop and Beulah Reed.
Andy loved fishing, hunting, camping and flying model airplanes. He was a NASCAR fan and loved to build race cars for his friends. Andy was a member of the Iowa Sidebanders and X-Ray CB Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.
The family would like to thank the Wesley Hospice staff for their dedicated care to Andy.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Dad its been seven years not one day goes by that I don't think about you .moms gone now and i find myself being lost but i had her put with you and your ashes are swirled together forever . I hear the hot rods go down the street and i think of you and all our time at the track and how much fun we had,i think to myself how much you would want to get undre that hood and tweek it up just one more notch lol miss and love you dad your girl forever sherry anne

you carried me on your shoulders and sat me in your lap when i was little,you were a rock in my life i remember all those weekends at the races and how proud i was of you.i miss you and my heart is heavy but i know you are in a far better place. without you and mom i could never had been who i am today, you tought me to be strong . And as i go on your memorie lives in me forever.I love you dad

When ever someone mentioned Andy I would always say Andy who? Oh you mean Uncle Junior. As a kid I never knew he had a real name. He was always my Uncle Junior. I can remember him and Aunt Peggy coming to moms and bring us kids molasses candy. I was always glad to see them but hated that candy. Mom always said it was for us but I knew better!
I can close my eyes now and picture him tinkering with his cars or talking on his CB radio. He probably knew more about them than the company that made them.
No matter was was broke he would fool around with it until he fixed it. He was always glad to help anyone who needed him.
My heart will always hold a special place for my UNCLE JUNIOR.
