Linda Wilson, age 58, of West Des Moines, passed away on March 29, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 2nd at Grace United Methodist Church with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.

Linda was born to Luella and Dwight Doolittle on April 30, 1951 in Webster City, IA. She grew up in Webster City, and attended Iowa Central Community College. She married Roxy Wilson, also of Webster City, on Feb. 6, 1970. They moved to Des Moines in 1974 and spent the majority of their 40 years of marriage in Des Moines. They had two children, Wendy and Lori. Linda worked at Indiana Insurance in West Des Moines as a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines. She was a church organist for many years and was blessed with musical talent. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed making things for other people. She especially loved her family and adored her beautiful granddaughters. She and Roxy enjoyed weekend trips and vacations together. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.

Linda is survived by her husband, Roxy; her daughters, Wendy Wilson and Lori Lavorato (Nick); granddaughters, Talia (4) and Gigi (2), all of West Des Moines. She is also survived by her mother, Luella Doolittle of Webster City; sisters, Dianna Anderson (Gary) of Jewell, and Mary Kay Kent (Randy) of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Dwight Doolittle.

Gifts can be made in her memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – Des Moines Chapter.
