David R. Young, Sr.

David R. Young, Sr., 58, passed away March 12, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center from complications of Muscular Dystrophy.

David was born June 22, 1951 to Richard and Mary (Stanberry) Young in Des Moines. He was a member of Eastwood Open Bible Church. David was an avid Hawkeye fan and professional wrestling fan. He enjoyed calling BINGO and leading Bible study and devotions.

David is survived by his children, Kathy Young, David (Tara) Young, Jr. and Chris Larson; four grandchildren; mother, Mary Young; brothers, Larry (Nancy) Young and Leland Young; sister, Marsha (Butch) Reidburn; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Young and his grandparents, Willie and Leona Stanberry.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
