Walter “Walt” Phillips, 88, passed away March 8, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center.
Walt was born May 10, 1921. He was a Navy SeaBee in WWII. Walt was the chief accountant with Pioneer Hi-Bred International. He loved to travel, work on construction projects and was a member of JC Toastmasters and Capitol Hill Lutheran Church.
Walt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretha; children, Glenn Phillips, Gene (Terrie) Phillips and Lois Parker; grandchildren, Mary, Chris and Kalsa; great-grandchildren, Gabe, Oliver and Evan; sisters, Wilma Rafferty and Helen M. Phillips; sisters-in-law, Betty Larson and Helen Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, 511 Des Moines Street, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to Capitol Hill Lutheran Church.
