Sue L. Martin-Jeffries

Sue Martin-Jeffries, who was born on July 24, 1946 in Clark County, Illinois. She worked and lived in Des Moines the past 44 years. She passed away March 6, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Martin) Kelly; six grandchildren, Michael Leach, Cassandra (Smith) Anderson, Cody Weir, Jordan Lynn Weir, Dylan Taylor Weir and Brandon Lee “B” Weir; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Leach and Cadance Leach.

She was a caring and wonderful person who will dearly be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Verneal Stratton; brother, John Stratton and sister, Carol Stratton-Atwood.

Sue graduated from DMACC in May of 1986 with an Associated Science Legal Assistance degree. She loved spending time with friends and family, gardening, cooking and the Green Bay Packers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
