Roy Edwards, Jr.

Roy “Uncle Bud” Edwards, Jr. passed away March 3, 2010 at Union Park Health Care Center.

Roy was born March 13, 1930 in Des Moines to Roy Edwards, Sr. and Marietta Carr-Singleton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Roy was a butcher for over 30 years at Amends Packing Plant. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and enjoyed gambling, fishing, cooking and playing pool.

Roy is survived by his daughters, Alena Mae Thomas and Terry Jo Byrd; sister, Joyce Edwards; brother, Clyde Edwards; six grandchildren, Raychelle Edwards, Amanda Hayes, Keisha Harvey, Scott Edwards, Jerome Wilson and Rommel Hunter II; many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Corinthian Gardens, 1011 University Ave. in the Community Room.
