Jacqueline L. Cortez, 64, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 at her home of natural causes. A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Christ Apostolic Temple, 1230 E. 17th St., with burial at Colfax Cemetery in Colfax. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Jacqueline was born July 4, 1945 to Paul and Addie Cortez in Florala, AL and raised in Colfax, IA. She lived in Des Moines her entire adult life and is a member of Christ Apostolic Temple.
Those left to mourn her are her son, Francisco R. Cortez; daughter-in-law, Neytonna Cortez; siblings, Rev. John C. (Pearl) Fuller, Louise Cortez, Harriett (Carl) Lamar, Walter F. (Dixie) Cortez Sr., Andrae Cortez, George, Tony, Rick, and Micki Baker; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son’s father, Jackson K. Syuma; grandparents, Francisco and Hattie Cortez and Walter and Rindi Fuller; parents, Paul and Addie Cortez; and brothers, James Fuller and Fred Cortez.

So sorry to hear about Jackie. Lost touch with everyone after my father , Elder Morrow, passed away. Still remember when Jackie came to church in Colfax with Brother Weatherly was the pastor. Those were good times. May God comfort the family.
