Donald Frus

Donald R. Frus, 75, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Mercy Hospice Johnston from pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Avenue. A memorial visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Don was born December 17, 1934 to Ray and Caroline Frus in Omaha, NE and graduated from Des Moines Tech High School. He retired from 3E after 43 years where he was foreman of the Small Motor Repair Shop. Don attended New Hope United Methodist Church, was on the Board of Directors for the Isaac Walton League, was a member of the EASA Trade Association, and of the Des Moines Woodworkers Association.

Don enjoyed fishing, driving his sports car, tinkering and fixing things, cooking, attending AA meetings, and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by Shirley, his wife of 25 years; children, Chris (Darrin) Brown, Jolene (Scott) Sumpter, Chris (Dan) Hartman, Mike Leonard, and E.M. (Amy) Leonard III; ten grandchildren; sister, Vicki Carter; step-sister, Martha Maxwell; Dawn Kae and Brad Cosgriff; and a host of beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Colton Leonard; brother, Robert Frus; and sister, Frances Hallett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to New Hope United Methodist Church or Isaac Walton League.
