Mary Quijano

Mary Jo Quijano, 77, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at the Taylor House. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm Monday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, where a rosary will be held at 7 pm.

Mary was born November 14, 1932 in Des Moines to Tom and Bernice Ford. She retired from the Credit Bureau, where she worked in the Collections Department. Mary was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lawrence; her children, Laurie Quijano, Larry (Cece) Quijano Jr., and Tony (Michele) Quijano; her grandchildren, Hank (Jaime) Gertsen, Andy Gertsen, Gina (Brian) Kindig, Allie Quijano, Carlos Quijano, Jon Quijano, Alex (Shannon) Quijano and Aaron Quijano; her great grandchildren, Nathan Soumas, Noelle Gertsen, Mia Kindig, Dominic Kindig, Noah Quijano, Ryder Swim, and Rylee Quijano; her siblings, Larry “Jocko” Ford, Kay Ford and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Tom (Ella) Ford, Bernice Ford, and her brother, Tom Ford.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Taylor House or St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
